JUNEAU - Attention all authors, artists, poets and playwrights: Tidal Echoes, Southeast Alaska's premier literary and arts journal, is currently calling for submissions. Celebrating its 10th anniversary edition, Tidal Echoes invites all full-time residents of Southeast to submit their art and writing for publication in the journal.

Highlighted in this year's edition are Haines writer Kim Heacox, author of "The Only Kayak," and Juneau photographer Patrice Helmar. Notable past featured artists and writers include Ernestine Hayes, Ray Troll, Nora Marks Dauenhauer and Jane Terzis.

Tidal Echoes welcomes writing submissions in poetry, prose, drama and creative nonfiction, as well as art submissions in painting, photography, sculpture, carving or any other medium.

Submissions must be received by Dec. 1. Pieces will then be chosen for publication by the 13 members of the editorial board, comprised of University of Alaska Southeast faculty, students and community members.

Individuals are welcome to submit up to five poems, 15 double-spaced pages of prose or five pieces of art in any particular medium. Art should be saved as a .jpg or .tif file and have a resolution of at least 300 dpi. Text should be formatted in Microsoft Word or typed directly into the body of an email. Submissions across multiple categories are welcomed and encouraged.

As in past years, the university has made resources available to those who wish to photograph or scan their art submissions. Artists who require help or additional resources to digitize their work are encouraged to contact Jeremy Kane at jeremy.kane@uas.alaska.edu or 796-6222.

Electronic submissions are preferred. All submissions should be accompanied by a cover letter, which should include the submitter's name, address, email, phone number and a 3-5 sentence bio written in the third person. Submissions can be sent to tidalechoes@uas.alaska.edu or mailed to Tidal Echoes, c/o Virginia Berg, UAS Humanities Department Soboleff Building, 11120 Glacier Hwy., Juneau, AK 99801.

Detailed guidelines can be found at http://uas.alaska.edu/pub/tidalechoes. Further questions can be sent to Emily Wall at edwall@uas.alaska.edu.

Jacqueline Boucher is a University of Alaska Southeast student who will graduate in December. She currently serves as an intern for Tidal Echoes.
