JUNEAU - During the past four weeks, aspiring actors and actresses have tested the waters of stage performance during the Summer Theatre Arts Rendezvous (STAR). Dozens of youth from all over Southeast have worked with professional stage performers preparing for a series of shows, half of which were held last weekend and half yet to come.
The five-week acting program, nearly in its 20th year, is organized by Perseverance Theatre and is taught by their staff as well as guest artists from all over the country.
This year, performances include "Annie Junior," "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe," and "Kóoshdaa kaa: Stories of the Land Otter Men."
The final performance of "Annie Junior" will be held at 7:30 p.m. on August 14. "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" will continue with two final performances at 7:30 p.m. on August 12 and August 15. "Kóoshdaa kaa: Stories of the Land Otter Men" will be shown at 7:30 p.m. on August 13 and at 2 p.m. on August 15. All performances will be held at the Noyes Pavilion at the UAS Auke Bay campus.
