A new chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution officially organized April 12 in Juneau and is named the Inside Passage Chapter. The DAR is a nonprofit, nonpolitical women's service organization dedicated to promoting historic preservation, education, and patriotism.

The chapter will celebrate its organization on May 3 as Alaska DAR State Regent Cindi Gryder installs the first slate of chapter officers.

Among its many activities, DAR offers grant opportunities to nonprofit organizations that support historic preservation, education or patriotism, as well as scholarship opportunities for college students. Contact chapter regent Regina Fallace at 957-4263.
