Floyd Dryden Essay - More sports

Have you ever wanted to join the school sports but they didn't have the sport you liked? The solution to this problem is to add more sports to Floyd Dryden.

There are many reasons why Floyd Dryden should have more sports. First of all, it would be good if Floyd Dryden had more sports because kids would be more active. According to Dylan Magnuson, an eighth-grade student, "Some children don't enjoy every sport that is offered so maybe a new one would be good." I think that if kids don't join sports, they aren't very active and just sit around and watch TV. Having more sports may increase the interest in sports, which would lead to more participation and more active kids.

In addition, it would be a good learning experience if Floyd Dryden had more sports. According to Heavyn Stears, an eighth-grade student, "It would be a good for kids to learn a new skill instead of the same old same old." Also, learning a new sport would get students out of the books all day and into teamwork with friends through a new sport. Sports can tech students about teamwork, dedication, and most of all having fun because that is what sports are all about.

Not only would it be a good learning experience, new sports would also keep kids from being lazy. Eighty-percent of kids that aren't in sports lie around at home and are lazy. According to Randall Christensen, an eighth-grade student, "Now a days kids are playing Xbox and other games and not being active, so that is why Floyd Dryden should have more sports." If kids aren't staying active and healthy and also get daily exercise, they could get pretty sick. If Dryden added more sports, we could reduce those illness rates to zero!

On the other hand, having more sports means more coaches for the new sports and of course that means more money. Also, we would need a space to host it in. Furthermore some students don't see the need for more sports. "The system is good and does not need to change," said Brannon Kenne. "We don't need anymore changes and budget cuts." Also, most kids don't have good grades and don't pass the grade checks. Still, there are many more reasons to support this change than oppose it.

In conclusion, more sports should be added to Floyd Dryden. For example we could add tennis, fencing and, football. It would keep kids active, it would be a good learning experience, and also it would keep kids healthy and not lazy. So that is what I believe should change about Floyd Dryden. Now it's time for you to make your choice, yes or no.
