New DOT program links companies, subcontractors

JUNEAU - The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities announced this month the online launch of the Plan Holders Self Registration List, an automated program that will allow Disadvantaged Business Enterprises and non-DBE subcontractors to self-register as interested subcontractors for public bidding notices.

The Plan Holders Self Registration List was developed by ADOT&PF to connect DBEs and primary contractors.

Primary contractors are now required to contact DBEs that have registered for a bid within seven days of the advertised date and use the DBE directory in order to verify DBE certification. Primary contractors are no longer obligated to contact each DBE within a work category listed in the DBE directory. Contractors must be consistent in applying deadlines to both DBE and non-DBE bids.

Further information about the Plan Holders Self Registration List, including details on how DBEs and non-DBEs may sign up, can be found online at www.dot.state.ak.us/cvlrts or by calling 907-269-0851 or 1-800-770-6236 within Alaska.
