Jan. 3 was J.R.R. Tolkien's birthday, and is now celebrated as J.R.R. Tolkien Day by his enthusiasts. Tolkien was the author of the famous book series, The Lord of the Rings, and it's precursor The Hobbit.
J.R.R. Tolkien Day calls for you to have a toast to the professor (Mr. Tolkien). So raise a glass of your favorite brew and pick up one of his tales at the library or a bookstore and sit down for a great read.
"The world is indeed full of peril and in it there are many dark places.
But still there is much that is fair. And though in all lands, love is now mingled with grief, it still grows, perhaps, the greater."
- J.R.R. Tolkien, The Lord of the Rings
